Your court facilitated expedited trials
If yes, what tools did you use and how well did they work?
ALEXANDRIA CITY COURT
Tool: trial-setting conferences that encouraged the setting of civil trial dates within 90-120 days.
BAKER CITY COURT
Tool: the court's procedure in which criminal trials were scheduled within 60 days of the arraignment date and civil trials were scheduled within two weeks of any requested and agreed-upon date.
BOSSIER CITY COURT
Tool: on arraignment date, on a simple traffic charge when the defendant did not qualify for an attorney and pled not guilty, the trial was held the same day immediately after arraignment court. This kept the docket load to a minimum.
CROWLEY CITY COURT
Tool: the judge in this single-judge court set trial dates as soon as was convenient for all litigants.
DENHAM SPRINGS CITY COURT
Tool: the new case management system.
HOUMA CITY COURT
Tool: the court ensured that pre-trial hearings were used in juvenile cases.
JEANERETTE CITY COURT
Tools: setting a trial date at arraignment, providing immediate discovery through file disclosure to attorneys, and using both a morning and afternoon trial date fixing so that multiple trials can be held on trial dates.
JEFFERSON PARISH 1ST PARISH COURT
Tool: improvements to the in-house court software.
JEFFERSON PARISH 2ND PARISH COURT
Tool: the court set status conferences and cut off dates and set motions and discovery hearings on the same day.
JENNINGS CITY COURT
Tool: the court granted all reasonable requests, made additional court dates available, and allowed pre-hearing conferences. Results: these tools seemed to work fine.
LAFAYETTE CITY COURT
Tool: the court scheduled all trials within six weeks of a request for trial.
LAKE CHARLES CITY COURT
Tool: pre-trial conferences.
MINDEN CITY COURT
Tool: special setting when requested.
MONROE CITY COURT
Tool: gave defendants the opportunity to make a plea agreement with the district attorney. The judge often stayed the case to grant the defendant more time to pay.
NEW ORLEANS 1ST CITY COURT
Tool: engaged attorneys by holding status/settlement conferences.
NEW ORLEANS 2ND CITY COURT
Tools: evening court and special settings for those matters that were lingering due to lawyers' delay in filing a motion for trial.
NEW ORLEANS MUNICIPAL AND TRAFFIC COURT
Tool: the court re-arranged dockets and schedules.
OAKDALE CITY COURT
Tool: attorneys were given extra court dates to accommodate moving matters to trial.
PINEVILLE CITY COURT
Tool: settlement conferences.
RAYNE CITY COURT
Tool: pre-trial conferences. Results: they work well.
RUSTON CITY COURT
Tool: provided trial dates at times agreed and convenient to all parties.

VILLE PLATTE CITY COURT
Tool: pre-trial conferences.
WINNFIELD CITY COURT
Tool: set trial dates upon receiving the requests.
WINNSBORO CITY COURT
