2nd Circuit | The court ensured relevant legal consideration to each case by employing qualified legal support staff, providing electronic legal research tools, holding pre/post conferences, drafting written memoranda, and circulating draft opinions. Additionally, members of the court actively participated in the Uniform Rules Committee, reviewing rules on an annual basis to ensure awareness of any changes to existing rules or implementation of new rules. |
3rd Circuit | The Third Circuit continued to provide a manual, Handbook of Louisiana Court of Appeal, Third Circuit Procedure, in hard copy and on the internet site. The manual is intended to aid attorneys on their appellate work.
The court continued to update its internet site with the internal rules of the Third Circuit, to keep the public and attorneys apprised of any internal rule changes. The internet site also provides all current and upcoming dockets and published opinions from the Third Circuit.
The court produced a self-represented litigant manual to help litigants in filing writ applications and appeals. The manual is also provided on the internet site. The manual, which was updated this year, has greatly improved the ability of self-represented litigants to provide the court with the necessary documentation and aided the litigants in conforming with the Uniform Rules.
The court also revised its Manual for the Production of Appellate Court Records. The court has distributed the updated manual to all district court, city court and worker’s compensation clerks who prepare appellate records.
