1st Circuit | The 1st Circuit reported that it hosted a Summer Sidebar Luncheon with the Young Lawyers Section of the Baton Rouge Bar Association in order to provide a judge's perspective of best appellate practices and the professionalism expected when appearing before the court. |
2nd Circuit | The 2nd Circuit reported that its judges routinely served as speakers at area seminars to discuss appellate advocacy, writs, etc.
The court hosted the 1st North Louisiana Appellate Conference for continuing legal education in April, 2018. The Conference was presented by the Shreveport Bar Association, with key speakers including Judges from this Court as well as from the 1st Judicial District Court, along with many of this Court's legal Staff, the Clerk of Court and Chief Deputy Clerk. Topics included Brief Writing from a Practitioners standpoint, Clerk's Office Rules and Procedures; Trends in Writs, Appeals and Procedure at the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeal; Professionalism; Special Appeals and Ethics. |
3rd Circuit | The 3rd Circuit reported it implemented and continues a program for judges, law clerks, and staff attorneys to join the local Inns of Court, thereby facilitating interaction between the court and bar as well as educating the attorneys about professionalism and ethics.
