Objective

2.3 To publish those written decisions that develop, clarify, or unify the law.

Intent of the Objective

The designation of judicial opinions as precedential authority is essential to achieving clarity and uniformity in the development of the law. The publication of these opinions provides an easy way for interested parties to ascertain the holdings of the court and the rationale for its findings, thereby promoting understanding of the law and reducing confusion.

1st Circuit
First Circuit judges conducted a continuing legal education course regarding summary judgment law, best practices in appellate procedure, and criteria for publication.
2nd Circuit
The court disseminated opinions immediately to all those registered for its online notification service. The service provides immediate access to the opinions.
3rd Circuit
The court continued to maintain and update its own citation handbook.
