Additional actions taken by the courts to address this objective
4th JDC | The court designed a juror brochure, for use prior to the selection of jurors, and reviewed a request by a local college student to present a juror questionnaire to jurors. The questionnaire would gain feedback as to the quality of the jury experience during the week of jury service.

13th JDC | The 13th JDC posted jury information, including trial cancellation or continuance information, on the court website.
|
14th JDC | A committee was created, consisting of the Clerk of Court and members of the bar, to update the jury questionnaire. This update should help with jury selection and provide a better experience for jurors.

15th JDC | The 15th JDC reported that one division of court used a plea cut-off policy.
|
16th JDC | The 16th JDC reported that judges responded to jurors’ feedback regarding courtroom facilities and general court security procedures.
|
18th JDC | The Iberville Parish Clerk of Court posted jury information on Facebook.
|
19th JDC | The court implemented a software program that allows jurors to fill out their pre-service questionnaires via the Internet. The program also has a texting component, which the court hopes will improve communication with jurors.

22nd JDC | The court maintained a jury information section on its website, including a video produced by the court that outlines what it means to serve on a jury, and practical information re: parking, emergency contact information, lunch, etc. The qualifying judge for each jury week met with the jury pool prior to assignment of jurors to cases, thanking jurors for their service.

26th JDC | Judges of the 26th JDC routinely met with jurors post-trial, to determine if their jury experience was meaningful and to encourage them to express ideas to improve jury service.

27th JDC | The court ordered the sheriff to personally serve jury notices that were first sent by certified mail but not acknowledged by the potential juror.
|
28th JDC | The court established a reserved parking area for civil and criminal jurors.
|
32nd JDC | The court maintained procedures to transfer jurors with schedule conflicts to different jury duty dates.
|
40th JDC | The 40th JDC reported that the judges provided coffee, drinks, breakfast, and snacks for jurors.

Orleans Parish Civil District Court | The court improved jury information through the addition of audio-visual instruction to the juror information already provided.

Orleans Parish Criminal District Court | The court maintained an online jury management system, which allowed potential jurors to complete jury summons via the ejuror online service.
