Objective

4.5 To recognize new conditions or emerging events and to adjust court operations as necessary

Intent of the Objective

Effective courts are responsive to trends and emerging issues. This objective requires courts to recognize and respond appropriately. A court that moves deliberately in response to such issues is a stabilizing force in society and acts consistently with its role in maintaining the rule of law and building public trust and confidence.

CROWLEY CITY COURT
The court recently updated and improved its internet server, added two new computers, and two new phone lines and a new phone system for the entire court is on order. The court also installed new electric receptacles and outlets.
EUNICE CITY COURT
The court applied for a grant from the Louisiana Supreme Court to get electronic filing capability for the criminal docket.
JEFFERSON PARISH 1ST PARISH COURT
The court improved its IT security posture by refreshing the perimeter firewall with the latest technology. The new Cisco Meraki firewall is a next-generation firewall with advanced malware protection, content filtering, and intrusion prevention. The new firewall has already blocked several malicious attempts that would have been successful with the older firewall. In addition to improving perimeter network security, email security was also strengthened by applying tighter controls and higher scrutinizing of emails. Multiple malicious attacks on a weekly basis come in via email. These emails are blocked before they reach the end users and have reduced the number of security incidents that occur. Stronger IT security has provided a more consistent and responsive system, improving end user experience.
JEFFERSON PARISH 2ND PARISH COURT
Jefferson Parish Second Parish Court installed a voice-over IP telephone system and an updated computer network and is in the process of installing an updated video surveillance system.
LAFAYETTE CITY COURT
The court provided free WiFi to members of the bar and their staff, as well as anyone with a need for such service. The court now has the ability to receive testimony by SKYPE when appropriate. Matters involving prisoners were usually handled using a fiber optic link to the jail that allows the proceedings to be conducted in real time.The judges continued to have real-time access to the case management system from anywhere and at anytime.
RUSTON CITY COURT
The court upgraded the court management systems.
