Objective

2.3 To publish those written decisions that develop, clarify, or unify the law.

Intent of the Objective

The designation of judicial opinions as precedential authority is essential to achieving clarity and uniformity in the development of the law. The publication of these opinions provides an easy way for interested parties to ascertain the holdings of the court and the rationale for its findings, thereby promoting understanding of the law and reducing confusion.

1st Circuit
Individual judges and panels conducted continuing legal education courses regarding summary judgment law, best practices in appellate procedure, criteria for publication of cases, and tips to improve brief writing and also educated the legal community regarding the applicable jurisprudence and the distinction between review on writs and review on appeal.
2nd Circuit
The court disseminated opinions immediately to all those registered for the court's online notification service. This provided immediate access to the opinions.
